My very first trip - March 2022

Near the remote cove of Cwm Tydu near my home in west Wales. The temperature did drop to -3C degrees but all was good, and two or three minutes with the gas ring on warmed things up in the morning!

Priorities!

Guinness and bacon - comforts for an early trip to the Brecon Beacons

Home from Home

Everything I need is here, and the roof comes up if I need the headroom. The short wheelbase Vauxhall Vivaro has enough space easily, so I can cook, eat, read, use the laptop to edit or just download my images, or simply put out the bed and chill in the evening…

On the way to Scotland

A break on the long journey, leaving the M6 to visit Alston - a wonderful vista looking West to the Lake District!

So easy to cook a good meal!

My family mocked me for taking herbs and spices, but this chicken meal was delicious, and after a long day of exploring, I felt that I deserved it!!!!

The first big adventure - Scotland and the Hebrides

Exploring the wonderful Glen Etive en route to the Isle of Skye

Wake up to the view 1

On the Brecon Beacons

Wake up to the view 2

Ullinish, Isle of Skye

Wake up to the view 3

Up the dirt road near Neist Point, Isle of Skye - this was literally a view from the van!

Wake up to the view 4

The remote community of Gallan Head, on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides - ex-military buildings have been repurposed with added art, with a surreal effect.

Wake up to the view 5

Bedding down a few miles from the Old Man of Storr, Skye, on the evening before exploring this iconic location

Wake up to the view 6

Sleeping with Digger! In the north of the Isle of Skye, a narrow and winding mountain road goes East ot West across the island, resulting in this dodgy night encounter!!

Wake up to the view 7

Arrival in Luskentyre. Finally arriving at the iconic Luskentyre when almost completely dark. By the morning the tide will have gone down, and the water in the image will be replaced with miles of beautiful white sand…… who could want more than to wake up with this view!

Stopping for the view - Stac Pollaidh

Having climbed the mountain in the background, Stac Pollaidh, the previous day, in more turbulent (and possibly more interesting) weather, I had to stop for one more lingering look at this jewel of Assynt before travelling southwards.
